I am Katie Chambers, cellist with Kinship Music Studios based in Brooklyn, NY. I am passionate about playing cello and sharing my love to music with the audience and students. Always keeping a smile on everyone’s face. You are in for a good time and great music. Cello should be fun and now it is!
I have played solo cello at many successful wedding ceremonies, including an episode of “Whose Wedding Is It Anyways?!”. They are so successful because I always offer a free meeting to go over all the possibilities of ceremony music. This way, you get an unique ceremony specific to you! I also take request and have rearranged many couples favorite songs for solo cello. So, let me know your favorite tune and I look forward to the challenge of adapting it for solo cello!
I consider myself a passionate and dedicated cellist, forever looking to expand the face and sound of the cello. I recently relocated to NY because I am drawn to musical theater. The collaboration in musical theater is where I feel the most alive. So I cherish any and all opportunities to share the stage with other musical theater professionals. Shout out to all you MD's! But, I also love the challenge of collaborations with composers, bands and singer/songwriters. I feel very honored to bring another artist's vision to life. Thank you for trusting me with your art!
I have been recognized for improvising, extensive recording and performance experience, winning the Washington Area Music Award in 2011, for Vox/Ukulele/Cello.
I run my own private teaching studio of cello, piano and violin students since graduating with my Masters degree in cello performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2005. I’ve learned over the years how to communicate effectively with both students and parents. Highlights have always been our annual recital, our various community-service concerts and ensemble recitals with other local private teaching artists.
